Fountain Valley, Orange County
Mile Square Regional Park, exactly one mile on each side, fills the center of Fountain Valley. The Navy laid out a triangle of landing strips there during World War II for training flights, and the county converted the field to parkland beginning in the 1970s. Today it holds golf courses, fishing lakes, ball fields and an archery range, about six miles inland from Huntington Beach.
